Announcing Scholarship Fund for the March of Remembrance
Dear friends:
We would like to inform you of a Holocaust essay contest for students ages 11-18. Scholarships of $250, $200, and $150 will be awarded to three students who write essays demonstrating their understanding of issues related to the Holocaust. The Murrieta March of Remembrance Scholarship fund exists to teach and empower students to become ambassadors to break the veil of silence surrounding the Holocaust so the horrors of prejudice, indifference, and genocide will never be repeated. Contest participants need to Read a biography or autobiography of a Holocaust survivor. Then, write a double-spaced essay of 3-5 pages on the questions listed, with a reference page at the end. Contestants will complete the attached application form and email it with their essay to janflournoy@gmail.com.
The March of Remembrance, a memorial event held throughout the United States, is not just a commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day. It is a powerful initiative, a sister event to the March of Life in Europe, that aims to break the cycle of prejudice and indifference caused by antisemitism. By participating in the essay contest and attending the March of Remembrance, students can contribute to this important cause. We encourage you to motivate students to enter this significant essay contest. Entries must be submitted by April 12, 2026. Scholarship recipients will receive their awards at the 2026 March of Remembrance commemoration on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:30- 4:30.
Sincerely,
Jan Flournoy
